Public Operating Hours of Library and Discount Bookstore

Directions/Free Parking for Discount Bookstore, Library, and Music Hall

Since 1984, the Andrew Carnegie Free Library has operated a Discount Bookstore, on the Lower Level of the Library building(access is through the Library). Hundreds of books, with large discounts from normal retail prices, are located in the three rooms of the Discount Bookstore. One room specializes in children's books and magazines, and one room specializes in nonfiction books and magazines for adults.

The third room, the Mary Harris Room, honors a former, long-time Library Director, who served the Library in the mid-twentieth century. This room specializes in adult fiction. The Mary Harris Room is also used for classes and meetings; this room can be leased for a small rental fee.

The Discount Bookstore is always open to the public, when the Library is open to the public. To conserve energy, lights are kept off when no one is in the Discount Bookstore. If lights are found off, on the staircase to the Discount Bookstore or in any of the three Discount Bookstore rooms when you wish to visit, simply turn the lights on as you enter.

If there is no attendant in the Discount Bookstore when you visit, bring items for purchase to the Library Circulation Desk on the first floor. All proceeds, from the Discount Bookstore, help defray the operating costs of the Andrew Carnegie Free Library.

The following items, in the Discount Bookstore of the Andrew Carnegie Free Library of Carnegie, Pennsylvania, are FREE-OF-CHARGE to anyone willing to come to the Library to pick it up:

1) Complete set of 1999 Thomas Register of American Manufacturers

2) IBM Selectric II typewriter

3) IBM manual typewriter

4) Microfiche reader

5) Commodore 64 computer

6) Phonograph turntable(no speakers)

7) Card file drawer(three individual units-take one, two, or all three)

8) Dehumidifier(may need servicing)

9) Muratec Model F-85 telefacsimile machine(needs servicing)
